Happs Trackball Skipping HELP!!

I just installed a Happs 3.5 inch trackball that I purchased a while ago in my Cabinet. Running .57 MAME and latest ArcadeOS. Using either the USB interface (under Windows) or the PS2 interface (Under DOS), when I play trackball games, the trackball will skip really bad, or stay in one place when you hit it hard. If you move it slower, it works fine, but of course that is no fun :-) I bought a Happs because I did not want to hack something and have this problem.

Anyone have any hints on what to do? Settings to change? I have tried searching the board, but have found nothing real useful.
