: Game Launcher - This is a very good frontend in my opinion because it is very simple and looks very nice. It supports any truetype fonts and you can use multiple emulators with it. Mame, Nesticle, Snes9x, Stella etc. In my opinion it's the BEST DOS frontend out there. Just wish the author updated it some more. It really is a good one.

Heh... *I* wish I could update it more.... It's comments like this that keep me going, though. There haven't been too many "other" motivivations lately. Hitting a 1.0 release is a big milestone I'd like to reach one day.

BTW, I have been working on it a bit more recently. It's just that it's been mainly behind the scenes and only in CVS right now. I worked on it quite a bit during my holiday the last couple weeks and I was planning a release Very Soon Now (tm). However, my main development machine suffered a hard drive crash yesterday. I have all the code elsewhere, but it was my only DOS development environment. :( It'll probably be close to 3 weeks before I get my hard drive back from IBM. I've actually been doing most of my development in Linux since it's a much nicer development environment w/ X-windows, a debugger, etc. But I still need to have a DOS environment to compile the native DOS version.

: Well I know that everyone out there building cabinets does NOT want to boot up to stupid Micro$oft windows on their cabinet. I know I don't want too. A plain DOS boot machine is want I want.

Ditto. :) BTW, Game Launcher should work under Windows 95/98/ME without any issues since they are essentially DOS-based. It's just NT/2K/XP that are not supported. Unfortunately, the Win32 version of MAME is also not supported. Keep an eye out, though, it's in the works....
