It might also be cool to use one of those tiny Palm keyboards as your main keyboard instead of the full size keyboard. Although you would have to have a Palm almost dedicated to the cabinet.

: Just found a piece of software that might be useful for people struggling with the keyboard issue for their mame cabinet. It allows a winCE or palmOS device to function as mouse and keyboard for a windows PC, and shouldn't interfere with anything in the keyboard port. It will connect with a sync cable, or with infrared, so an infrared sensor could be concealed on the monitor bezel area, and the PC could be controlled with no visible connection. For those using TVs as displays the same Palm can also work as a remote control for the TV using omniremote. Unfortunately I am running dmame, so I can't use this myself, but maybe others can.
