I have two encoders off the net. One is from IPAC and is very easy to use, the other is some generic encoder that supports a trackball and rotary device. I'm assuming the rotary device is for some kind of "dial" movement as in Arkanoid and Ikari warriors.

I want to build another control panel for games like Ikari warriors, so I'm thinking about buying the rotary joystick from Happ Controls. Does it make sense to use two different encoders? I would map the up/down left/right movements to the IPAC encoder and the dial movements to the rotary encoder, which connects via a serial connection.

I guess I could just map everything to the IPAC encoder and use button 7 and 8 for the rotary. What do you guys think?

thanks!!
