Configuration by .ini file is less user friendly, but way more powerful. Rather than spending all that time programming an interface for configuration, you can concentrate on programming new features and squashing bugs. Just make sure to make the layout and wording of the .ini file sort of self-explanatory; try to use recognizable words for the options. I say make every conceivable option configurable by .ini file, and then when you've done everything else, work on dialog boxes to configure the .ini last. The only bad thing is that you might scare away some newer users who might want something easier (but then again, they'll probably just use Mame32 by itself).

: Thinking of going in a entirely new direction in terms of configuration for the RD. I was just curious... what types of configurations do you prefer? Do you like the .ini files like mame uses, or the windows style dialog boxes that mame32 uses?

: The reason I ask is because I could give the RD tons more configuration options if I switched to a simple .ini file, as well as faster releases, but it would have a few drawbacks...

: 1. No more on the fly changing of things...
: 2. A slightly more nit-picky way of having to set things up.

: So what do ya think?
