Not sure about how the above works... but here are some things to consider...

If you are pressing left... the controller has to have a special Mathmatical Formula built into it.

The Formula would have to send 'repeating' keystrokes, in a 'faster' or 'slower' pace.

Unfortunately, The KE72T or ME is Not fast enough to handle this (found out by asking them to try). Furthermore... if the Formula was not synced well with the true gameplay, it may result in low control... or too much control.

Someone would have to make a variable Wheel - that when turned, adjusted the Formula.

Remember... if you press left with an expensive 49way... and the character immediately moves (instead of gaining speed gradually), it would be a complete waste... and would be the smae as a regular $10 Happ 8way Joystick.

: Tim from www.arcadecollecting.com was the one who originally posted the 49-way to analog curcuit. The pic of the circuit is available here (http://www.arcadecollecting.com/info/49way_to_Hall.gif). When I bought an NBA Showtime cab from him, he left in 3 of these 49way sticks that I still plan on converting into analog sticks for my playstsion2.

You might be able write a driver in mame to convert key 'x' to analog left value a. 'x' and 'y' to be alalog b (2xA). 'x' and 'y' and 'z' to be analog c (3xA). But remember that you will need a keyboard encoder that can handle 12 buttons per joystick! (I think there are three in each direction right?)
