I base this on the following, The MK40 and I-PAC each sell for 50-60 dollars after you add in shipping. Both are programmable from batch files. Both allow easy connections without soldering.

The Hot rod controller appears to have 24 inputs, which is less than the MK 40 and slightly less than the I-PAC. Also, the inputs require 3 separate cables to connect, which is less convenient than the cut IDE cable for the MK 40 or the I-PAC screw terminals.

Also, while the Hot Rod is programmable, it can't load an external program from a batch file like the above interfaces.

OTOH, a keyboard hack will cost between $5-10 in parts and a lot of time to develop (solder, plan) will have less inputs, and won't be programmable.

Therefore, I would price it somewhere between the keyboard hack and the I-PAC, hence the price above.

Hope this helps. Good luck!!!!
