I'm not sure why I'm answering this since I didn't go with a TV... but I've read a bunch about them.

1. If you can, keep it in the plastic. 2 reasons. Because you will keep the warranty and TV's are very very fragil and I know of at least one person who broke the tube here removing it from the plastic.

2. For emulation, you wont find many games that go over 320x200. It's more then enough. For playing games, it will also look great if they fill in every pixel. What looks the worse is straight lines. If you running 3d games on it, get a card that can run fsaa at 640x480 and you will get great results. BTW hidef tv is much better then the 512x512(whatever). Scarta (europe standard) is even better.

3. getting a 25" is VERY VERY hard to do. There probably wont be any on display, but they might have some at bigger appliance stores. Make sure the measure before you go shopping to make sure it will fit.
