I use both an 8way and a 4way,the 8way will not work correctly on games designed for a 4way like pacman and others.the reason there are no keys mapped to the diaganals is that both the 4way and 8way only have 4 switches,the 8way can close 2 switches at 1 time and the 4way can't. If theres any way you could have a dedicated 4way in your design and the 8way I would do that.

:I am just starting my keyboard hack I've got the decoded matrix and now have to decied what to connect to it, whats best a 4 way or an 8 way, while looking at the controls of various mame games that say 8 way stick their does not seem to be any keys mapped for the diagonals?? does this mean that its best to use an 4 way or is thier some way of mapping the extra keys in to the keyboard
