How to hack an X-Box pad?

Has anyone figured how to hack an Xbox control pad? I decided to try the usual positive and negative connection like with psx/dc control pads, but it only stepped up the sensitivity of the analog buttons by one level. If you hit the button too many times it will reach it's limit and cease to work.
