Consider an Athlon instead. the difference between the athlon and duron shows up more in emulation then most places. (I would guess you get less the 80% power per clockspeed with the durons)
Considering that you can get a 1.4ghz Athlon 266fsb and 512mg ram for less then 200 bucks at pricewatch, it seems hard to go with the duron. Might cost 5 to 10 bucks more for the processor and all the rest is the same...
