Actually, there are some game companies that do support MAME. Capcom and Hanaho are two big ones that do. Other pro-MAME copyright holders include Howard Delman, Jamie Fenton, and others. There are at least 53 MAME Roms that have been released to the general public, in some form (freeware, commercially for a fee, and the like).


Anyway, Nicola Salmoria, Aaron Giles, Brad Oliver, Oliver Gailbert, Haze, Ernesto Corvi, Howie Cowen, Mike Coates, Luca Elia, and the others developers deserve a lot of credit for their hard work and time! Granted their drivers are not perfect, but the project has resulted in over 3,000 playable arcade games that might have been lost forever!


: It would have been destroyed by corporate interests before the 3rd version came out.
