I'm not sure if this comment was meant for me, or some of the other suggestions, but here's my answer anyway...
I have positioned the screw locations directly above and below the joystick, where your hand is not likely to be. Also, I'm using button head screws to minimize the blood loss.... :)
Really, though, the screws are smooth, so it shouldn't be a problem.
