It seems the I-PAC cannot be programmed from Windows XP

I get the "timed out" error every time I try to program the I-PAC with its own utility in Windows XP.
I can program it using Windows 98 on the same computer (I run both OS's).
I might have to do with the abscence of true DOS in XP.

Has anybody had this problem?
Is there a workaround?
