MAME32works MAMEDos doesn't?

Can someone tell me why I can run MAME32 with no issues but when I try to run MAMEDos my machine locks up? I'm sure this is a driver issue but I don't know which one. I am using the video drivers for DOS that came with my card.

(DOS7,Windows 98se, ATI Rage Pro, 128 meg, S-Vido out to TV)
