Hey guys.

I finally got my isolating transformer today so I threw it in my Arcade/Mame box to power the monitor. It powered up first time and I booted my pc (with J-Pac) and got a mad looking dos screen straight away. Ok so I thought I'll twiddle with all the syncs and stuff to get a stable picture and this was going well too...until the monitor powered down.

I thought a fuse was blown so I tested both the fuses on the monitor which turned out to be fine. I then tested the isolating transformer and this was putting out 110(actually 130 but I'm guessing this is in with the tolerance) to the monitor and 240 also to the monitor hold. I then tested the volts across the fuses and they were 110(130 again).

I was fiddling again with the monitor and bam it just powered up again so I know it isnt broken. For what its worth the monitor board is very very grubby so I think maybe its just gunk that is making it unreliable. If I go and get some electrical cleaner of some sort from an electronics store would this be ok?

Thats where my knowledge of fixing things stops as I know how dangerous monitors are. Could anyone give me any advice on other outputs or components I could test, or should I just ring up a TV engineer.

Thanks again. You guys are very helpful!
