as far as getting tyour laptop to see that something is conntected to it..don't worry..go to where you pick what the display screen is... settings/advance?> then turn on like the vga port and the lcd screen..now where it says save as put in something like pcvga and where it says to have hotkeys push a key ..like V...now make it lcd only and save it and make a hotkey...oh yeah makme sure you have a monitor plugged in ....now once you have hot keys setup..unplug the monitor and press the hotkey to have both monitors on ..the screen should flicker or turn off depending on how you had it set up...now plug the monitor back in after all of that....voila..it should be on..and you dont even have to have it plugged in to recognize its there...get it???if not email me...
