I think I got a hunk of MDF with my Oscar mounted to it (I ordered it with no mounting plate). It looked like a 3/4" thick piece of the stuff that the back of notepads are made of. The ends were all split, and it seemed to scratch easily. It also bunched up badly anywhere that screws were installed. Didn't like the look of it at all.
