Regarding your question about triggers/buttons:
Most games default to using buttons in this order for P1:
Left CTRL, Left ALT, Space, Left Shift, Z, X, C, V
Some trivia/gambling games differ, of course, you'll have to remap keys for those (like Poker Ladies, for instance, it uses A B C D E to hold cards, and LShift to deal).
Don't think anyone really addressed THAT part of your question.
