Thanks for all your great input, I'm getting close to figuring out exactly what to do.

A couple problems I'd like to check with you. I'm considering embossing symbols and lettering into the aluminum before I mount it. My idea was to cut and engrave small emblems (pac-man shapes and other game characters, rivets, and other lines and shapes) into sheet styrene like that used in plastic modeling, cut out the shapes and put them underneath the aluminum to aid in embossing.

The problem is, the hollow embossed shapes would likely collapse or get mashed down with contact, like when I press the aluminum to the wood while cementing. Could I just glue the styrene forms underneath, so they support the embossed shapes? Would the cement possibly melt the styrene or would it probably hold up?

Also, you mentioned the problem of the metal being sharp and needing a protective edge. Could I just use a slightly wider t-moulding and offset it so it would overlap the aluminum?

Thanks
