In 'control panel', 'power options' there is a 'System standby' field. I will try setting this to 'Never' when I get home.
Hopefully this will disable the shortcut key also.
Any further ideas welcome!

: I am using A Dell Inspiron with my i-pac controlled MAME cab., with all the default MAME controls.
: The problem I am experiencing is some sort of 'Standby Mode' shortcut key combination which happens in 2 player games. I can't work out what combination of keys it is as i can't reproduce the problem by sequentially trying the buttons/joysticks.
: It doesn't happen at all when I play 1 player games.
: Does anyone know what this button combination is? Or better still, how I can completely remove this unnessecary function!

: Thanks very much for any aid,
: Barry.

: PS. I've just bought a Hantarex POLO SVGA 19" arcade monitor to replace an old broken 19" Kortek monitor, and I have to say - it's the best purchase I've ever made.
: It came with a PC video lead on it, and allows me to run Windows apps. perfectly with any graphics card. Games look great on it - it has a nice curved screen and colours are fantastic.
: Highly recommended, it cost £230.
