I built a control panel with 3/4" MDF. Used drywall screws too, 1 1/2", countersunk. Pre-drilled, and I didn't get any splits. I didn't use anything in the corners though. It still seems solid enough. If I was building a cabinet, I would probably brace the most of the corners though.

Haven't painted it, can't help there.

: Matt:

: What do you suggest for priming/sealing & painting MDF?

: And what length screws? I'll be using "Supergrabber" drywall screws, pre drilling to core dia. and both edge screwing and screwing into 1x2 spars/blocks for added strength. Material is 3/4 MDF and they'll be countersunk. Inch and a halfs good or should I get 2s?

: TIA,
: Bren...
