I've done a number of keyboard hacks with one jostick and three buttons and one with two joysticks and six buttons. I have had some problems with blocking but have got around it by changing the offending button to another key reference.

For most shooters etc you dont need three fire buttons anyway so you can get away with making the blocking fire button the third and barely used one.

My advice - if you have the time have a go with a cheapy keyboard, mostly it has worked for me, if it doesn't for you buy the encoder, you will have lost pennies in cash and a few hours of your time - good luck.

: As for non-fighting games (shooters, platforms, etc.), where you mostly press 2 or 3 switches at the same time, do you think a keyboard hack is on the whole as good as IPAC? Or IPAC is *much* better here too?
