i don't have a great answer but these things might help:

1)I use an iPac, which linux sees as a keyboard, no problem (usb or ps/2 mode)

2)www.cmdrtaco.net/jubei - is using an optipac on a linux box.

: I was wondering if anybody has tried this combination. I am looking to build a control panel with two trackballs.

: Will I run into problems with finding a Linux driver that recognizes the optipac?
: It has installation instructions for DOS and Windows on the ultimarc website, does this imply that it will not work in Linux?

: It seems that it should work flawlessly, as it is designed to be recognized as a serial mouse, but I don't want to put down the cash if it won't.

: Thanks for your input...
