: Hey,
: Will we be able to mix up Impact games along with U64 and Mame games. For example, will we be able to make a Fighting Catagory that includes Toshinden, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct??
Most likely yes... but this is so not ready yet... I'm basically gonna destroy 90% of rd's code and start all over when it comes to file managment, so don't expect a release for quite some time.
: And will I be able to list these same games in a second catagory, such as Mortal Kombat in an "all mame" catagory? Thanks, Jay D
probably, but not necessarilay.... I"m not that far along yet, so I can't tell you.

you'll have a directory slot and you'll be able to put the names of all the categoires in the catver.ini file that you wish to show up in that list..... the emulator type isnt' included in this file, so that would take some doing.

: : Since all the "cool kids" are doing it, I'll also be switching rd to a non-physical moving scheme at a later date. You'll have 20 slots....... and you can add whatever catagories you want to each slot.

: : I'm not sure If I wanna do a query type of thing though unless I switch to a database instead of textfiles.

: :

: : : Ok, here is what I really want in a front end. I want to be able to switch to different categories to look at games like: Sports, Racing, Puzzle, etc... BUT also Sports Baseball, Sports Football... etc... AND Trackball, Spinner, 8-way, 4-way, 1 player, 2 player, 4 player... etc...

: : : In order to have a front end with all these various categories it needs to have some sort of list file instead of actually physically moving all of the roms. This way Roms can occupy more than one category such as Sports which includes all sport games and then the subcategories. Are there any front ends capable of this and that can sort the roms for me? I'm thinking of using PartyOn cuz you can do this, but the trouble is it looks like I'll have to add each individual rom to each list.

: : : Can some people help me out? It's funny that in the examples people go to such lengths to describe their cab but never mention the software setup of it.
