Asteroids Sounds in latest MAME

Can anyone please tell me how to get the right Asteroids sounds in the latest MAME version?

I searched the archives and found one post about recompiling, etc but I don't know hot to go about doing all that stuff. Surely there's some samples that sound correct and will work?

Any help appreciated!
