: Well I've decided I am going to go with building a spinner from Cheep's website www.cheeptech.com I realllllly like the way he did it, but I was thinking about how I was going to do the knob, I'll probably use a wheel like he's got there, but then I was thinkin about how cool it would be to put a tempest replacement knob on there. Only problem with this one is that the tempest spinner is 20 bucks plus 3 for shipping cause it's damn nice, very reasonable price for a new model, and a wheel is like 3 bucks from a local hardware store, and a wheel might be easier to use with this cheep tutorial, using the tempest might somehow be different than using the patio door rollers spinning wise.
: I'd like to get some other people's suggestions, comments, etc on this. Does anyone have any other suggestion besides using a rubber wheel like in the tutorial? Or does anyone think I should just use a hard drive spinner and say screw it, although it might not feel as responsive?
: Thanks,

The Cheep spinner is built around a 1/4" machine screw, you should be able to use any knob that has a 1/4" inside dia. with a set screw to hold it in place. I'm using a cheep replacement knob that I got from Bob Roberts for $5 and it works perfect, Fultra spinner knobs should work also. The Cheep spinner I built uses a Happ controls trackball encoder wheel and PCB, if you've got the money go for the Happs parts and save yourself from hacking a mouse. You'll also need something to interface the Happ encoder to your PC, like a Hagstrom KE72-T encoder or some other product. Good luck!
